Oscar aftermath.

A few thoughts:

- Hugh Jackman was good. He showcased his talents, he called out pictures that got snubbed, he managed to work Wolverine into a song and dance routine. He also disappeared for most of the show, making him seem more like an act than a host.

- No Nicholson? BOO.

- Having certain presenters do multiple awards was a good idea. It moved things along a bit more quickly than usual.

- Having the “join our club of Best [whatevers]” line up for the major awards was ponderous and terrible. Having the past winners read gibbering nonsense about how awesome each nominee is in lieu of showing clips from each performance also sucked. The “Seymour Philip Hoffman” flub helped to fully illustrate just how canned those “testimonials” were.

As for my predictions, I was 5 out of 11 on my personal preferences and 9 out of 11 on my predictions for the actual winners. Viola Davis getting snubbed made me a bit angry.

[EDIT] How sad is it that - because Penn won for Best Actor - we DIDN’T get to see something like THIS during the Oscars:
