Phenomenology run amok!

For the past 15 years, one of Shepard Fairey’s primary stated goals for his “OBEY” stickering campaign has been:

[To bring] to light is the trendy and CONSPICUOUSLY CONSUMPTIVE nature of many members of society.

Well, it appears that - after years of underground sticker, poster and t-shirt sales - his project has officially become conspicuously CONSUMABLE. Check out what I found at the local Super Target this morning, smack dab between the Lego blocks and WWE action figures:

Andre the Giant's Posse Has an Action Figure.

This is either the final, “best case” result of Fairey’s campaign or a depressing signal that consumers really don’t “get” Heidegger-oriented social prankery.

Maybe it’s both.
