So I get email from my insurance company about ten minutes ago:

Valued Policyholder,

We recognize that you may soon be experiencing severe weather conditions due to the hurricane heading toward your area. Our thoughts are with you and your family as you prepare for this possibility.

We would like to offer you some basic safety procedures that can be implemented quickly and provide you and your family additional protection.

So I rush to google and - I’ll be damned - it looks like a hurricane is going to be stopping by to say “howdy” some time tomorrow. I’m feeling pretty lame for having to hear about this via email since… ya know… I’m HIP. I’m WITH IT. I read stuff.

But it offers interesting perspective on how a major natural disaster can show up and you don’t even know until you’re tits-deep in corpse-filled swamp water.

In any event, I’ll be buying ammo and beef jerky on my way into work in a few hours. And I intend to make a badass “looters will be shot” sign.

Looks like an accurate “If the New Orleans Flood Should Happen in Your Area” map would have been useful after all. Too bad I dropped the ball on that one.
