You MUST buy Runaway Comic #3.

May 31st, 2007 · 2 Comments · Art, Misc.

Why, you ask?

Because, in addition to being the swanky work of one Mister Mark Martin, it sports a glorious back cover featuring artwork by two of my childhood (and current) artistic idols - Jim Woodring and Steve Bissette.

Oh, and also ME.

And a bunch of other people. But mostly ME.

Yup, feast your eyes, kids:

Runaway Comic #3

In case you have no idea what to look for, my offering is The Muttonhawk:

All hail The Muttonhawk!

I’ll go into detail about the proud Muttonhawk shortly, but the quick version is that he is/was the alter-ego of my college roommate Dan Kelly in the comic strip my OTHER roommate Ralph “Ralf” Palm and I produced a decade ago. Dear lord. A DECADE AGO.

Anywho, I was pretty damned excited to realize that my addition to the cover actually TOUCHES Jim Woodring’s piece in the final product. My only regret is that poor Muttonhawk had to be flipped 180 degrees to make it work (hence the “HM” rather than “MH” on his chest), but that’s a small price to pay, in my humble opinion.

So, if you love me and/or great art, you should BUY A COPY OF RUNAWAY COMIC #3 right away! In fact, buy MULTIPLE copies.

I can think of a few other explanations for the MH-HM switch:
    -French counterpart, le Hawk Muton
-one of the dreaded Mirrorclones from the Mirrorlands
    -Bizarro Muttonhawk

Bizarro Muttonhawk: Hez in ur crowd scene, eten ur popcorn!

I believe Bizarro Muttonhawk is the only way to go. Why ELSE would he be eating popcorn instead of Cheez-its?
