Why I will be busy for a while.

Let’s hear it for… IDENTITY THEFT!

Say what you will about Bank of America, but those crazy kids efficiently caught someone trying to - as near as I can tell - buy the entire country of Spain with one of my credit cards. At 5:00 this morning. Plane tickets, hotels, car rentals and - weirdly - a series of iTunes purchases. Clearly, leaving the safety of the United States has exposed me to Dangerous and Untrustworthy Foreigners. But Bank of AMERICA had me protected from those devilish Spaniards.

Ne’ertheless, the process is not entirely painless. Things must be canceled. Other accounts must be closely watched. Every German housekeeper (hauskeeper?) from last week must be suspected. As a result, I will now be spending every spare moment of my time being paranoid and watching bank transactions. Also, I’m guessing there’s a chance I’ll be asked to engage in all sorts of weird paperwork and questioning. If I’m lucky, maybe I’ll get to be part of a sting.

Anywho, that’s my “welcome home” experience. “Thanks for visiting Europe, please leave your identity at the concierge’s desk.”

Oh, and I also seem to have been royally screwed by having no clue what the exchange rate was between the dollar and various forms of Moon Currency. But I only have myself to blame there.

All in all, an exciting way to start the day.
