Ah, to hell with it.

And so, Hillary wins. OF COURSE.

Clearly, trying to call anything in this race is an exercise in futility.

Anywho, a few thoughts:

I’ve never seen Hillary conduct herself better than she did tonight. Her “victory” speech was an impressive endeavor. Bill was nowhere to be seen, she opened with a humble moment, she was gracious and humane to her opponents. Assuming she’s smart, they’ll ignore or at least downplay South Carolina and just hold out for Super Tuesday. If she does, Obama has a tough road ahead.

McCain was just great today. It was like the McCain of eight years ago where his personality, character and intangible leadership qualities simply transcended the issues and made you WANT to vote for him. I don’t know what to say beyond that.

How many independents - listening to the pundits claim that Obama had New Hampshire in the bag by 10 points or more - woke up this morning and decided to vote for McCain? How many votes did confidence cost Obama?

I’m VERY excited about the idea that this may very well be a race truly decided by independent, non-partisan voters.

If the election were held today between our “new” frontrunners, I think I’m solidly behind McCain.

Well, I meant COMPARATIVELY. He obviously didn’t vanish forever leaving behind a cloud of delicious potpourri, but he also stopped being her version of Huckabee’s bass gee-tar.
