Looks like Obama will win PA - UNLESS…

April 12th, 2008 · 2 Comments · Politics

…he publicly says something unbelievably stupid:

“And it’s not surprising [that blue collar/PA voters] get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Hell yeah! If you’re religious or own a gun or worry about illegal immigration or fear globalization you’re no different than racists! But don’t worry - Barack Obama recognizes that you’re just a confused, superstitious, trigger-happy, xenophobic, isolationist bigot because of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush! I mean, NOBODY is religious or believes in the Second Amendment or worries about losing jobs to foreign countries for ANY OTHER REASON.

¡Sí se puede (show you the error of your simple, “Midwestern” ways)! Though I’m not sure what part of the Midwest Pennsylvania is in.

I mean, HONESTLY. All the dude had to do was keep his mouth shut, stay away from bowling alleys and roll into another “come from behind” victory/near victory in PA. Instead, he heads off to SAN FRANCISCO and delivers a statement that is tailor made to prove Bill O’Reilly’s “Liberal Elite” arguments.

His campaign’s response was embarrassingly short-sighted, basically saying that everyone was upset over nothing (a response which had worked so well in responding to the Jeremiah Wright situation).

In the meantime, mere days ahead of the primary, the Clinton camp is given something to cling to and shout from the rooftops that’s absolutely perfect for targeting the exact demographic she needs to keep a PA win out of Obama’s hands.

If Obama loses PA, it’s his own fault this time.

Yeah, how dare he say something obvious and unflattering? If he wants to be our president then he needs to understand that Americans not only prefer to be coddled and pandered to, we demand it and we will unleash our fury on anyone who dares talk to us likes adults.

    “like adults”, I mean.

Also that comment refers to what Obama said, not your (presumably facetious) characterization of it.
